GISRoam includes an optional legend that lets you color-code shapefile features using the values of a selected attribute. You can represent (numeric) ranges with a graduated color scale or assign unique colors to individual attribute values. A shapefile that does not have legend information is drawn using its Feature Color.
On the iPad, tap
Legend Toggle on the top of the screen to display the legend on top of the map.
On the iPhone, tap
Legend to display the legend in its own screen. If the display is <null> or contains only shapefile names tap Setup to define a legend.

STEP 2: Tap a shapefile name to view Legend Details. The content of this screen varies according to Legend Type.
STEP 3: Tap Legend Type and select a drawing method:

Draw by Unique Attribute Value assigns a different color to each attribute value defined for the shapefile and is generally used for non-numeric attributes.
Draw by Graduated Color uses a built-in color scale to represent ranges of (usually numeric) values.
STEP 4: After you select the Legend Type and the display automatically returns to Legend Details, tap Attribute to display a list of attributes that have been defined for this shapefile.

You can tap a blue arrow to display a list of attribute values in your data, as shown below.

Left column displays attribute values.
Right column displays the number of times each value occurs in your data.
STEP 5: Select an attribute to assign to the legend. (Only one attribute can be selected per shapefile.) The attribute is highlighted with a checkmark and the display automatically returns to the Legend Details.

STEP 6: If Legend Type is Draw by Graduated Color, Intensity Settings appear, as shown below:

Value Range displays the range of values assigned to this attribute in your data.
Draw Inverted reverses the built-in color scheme of the legend.
STEP 7: Otherwise, if Legend Type is Draw by Unique Attribute Value, Group Settings appear:

Values displays the selected attribute name and the number of values assigned to that attribute.
Tapping this field displays the attribute values and count, as shown below.

Left column displays attribute values.
Right column displays the number of times each value occurs in your data.
STEP 8: Tap Back in the Legend Details when you are done setting up legend information for this shapefile.
Jump to: Legend Setup | Changing Legend Colors
Tapping an entry on the legend selects the features that match its attribute value (or range of values) and displays details about the legend entry.
For example, tapping the attribute value range (171..249) on the legend shown below:

Displays its details:

Visibility toggles the display of matching features on or off. An item with Visibility off appears as a colorless square on the legend's color key.
Feature Count indicates the number of features that fall into this range of attribute values in your data.
Feature Color displays the color associated with this range of attribute values.
Arrows step through each color key on the legend and select the features with corresponding attribute values.
Done closes Legend Details.
Shapefile features that are selected via the legend are not automatically centered in the display. To center the feature, open the shapefile information and tap Show Shapefile.
