The GISRoam search function lets you select features using attribute values. The most recent search is saved and becomes the default the next you begin a search.

To search your data:

Step 1: Tap Search to open a list of shapefiles. Only shapefiles that have their display turned on appear in this list.

Step 2: Tap a shapefile name to display the Search parameters.

Field selects the attribute to be searched.

Type defines the search relationship (equal to, greater than, etc.) relative to Value.

Value defines what you are searching for.

Start Search begins searching your data.

Show Results (appears after a search) displays the results of your most recent search.

Step 3: Tap the search Field and select an attribute.

Step 4: Tap Type and select a relationship relative to Value.

Step 5: Either tap Value and enter a value using the displayed keypad, or tap the blue arrow and select one of the values that appears in your data, as shown below.

The left column contains the attribute values that appear in your data.

The right column displays the number of times each attribute appears.

Step 6: Tap the return key on the keypad to close it and uncover the Start Search button.

Step 7: Tap Start Search.

GISRoam displays both the value of the feature attributes matching your search and the feature's Display Attribute if one has been defined on the Shapefile Information screen.

The examples below show the results of a search both with and without a Display Attribute. When a Display Attribute is included, the search results are grouped according to its value (mudstone, limestone, etc.).

Step 8: To display the other attributes of a selected feature, tap the > to the right of its name.

Tapping Show Feature centers this feature on the map screen.
